This colorful, hardcover children's picture book takes you into the hive as one worker bee tells you about her life. From the first stages of development and through all of her jobs in the colony, you learn through whimsical verse all the amazing things bees do in their short yet productive lives. Full page, colorful drawings bring life to the story in a realistic yet approachable style, keeping the reader entertained and engaged.
After beekeeping for several years and engaging her community about the importance of honeybees and other pollinators, Rebecca decided to work on her first children’s book. Years of working in all ranges of education has helped bring fact-based storytelling to her readers in a fun and educational way. As queen of her own hive, she is a hard worker who values her family and loves all kinds of creative endeavors. Earning her Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Eastern Michigan University has helped with her entrepreneurial adventures as she heads her own business, Bee Present Honey. Rebecca has created sustainable bee-derived products in mindful packaging as well as offers community engagement activities and education for all ages in a fun and interactive way. Rebecca lives in Saline, Michigan with her husband Owen, teenage son Alex, two cuddly kitties Walle and Eva, and LOTS of honeybees.
Owen has been drawing since he was able to hold a crayon. Always gravitating towards animals as his subject matter, he developed a love for the natural world. Over the last several years he has learned a lot about honeybees and beekeeping, and was excited to participate in a book that would pass on some of the amazing facts about bees to young readers. Getting a Bachelors in Biology from the University of Michigan, and then spending several years as an entertainer on cruise ships with The Second City, he still found time to keep drawing animals. He started Three of Hearts Creations, and his work has been on display in various juried art fairs in the Midwest, where he specializes in pen and ink micro-dot stippling. Owen lives in Saline, Michigan with his queen bee Rebecca, stepson Alex, their two cats Walle and Eva, and, you guessed it, lots of bees!
